Question:

How do I go about getting info on an old college graduate?

I'm a genealogist researching my family history. I found that a distant uncle, Ed Rohn was involved with the Great Mercy race to Nome Alaska in 1925 (recounted in the movie Balto). The story is too long to recount here.

After confirming that this fellow was my relative, I did some more research and found that he'd gone to Nome during the Alaska Gold Rush. He had a cousin named Oscar Rohn who went to the University of Wisconsin (There are pictures of him on a rowing team there, and he's unmistakably related to his cousin).

There was another Oscar Rohn who served as part of the US geologic survey of Alaska in 1898 (he even had a glacier named after him). What I'm hoping to find out is were these two guys the same fellow? The birth years match.

So I had the idea of contacting the Uni of WI to get information, field of study, etc. I have approximate graduation year. But I really have no idea of who I'd have to contact to get any information or even how. Help?

Thanks!

Oh... I should add a couple details. The fellow probably graduated around 1896 or 7, so the information would be quite old. It might even require research. He went to the madisin campus, and since I live a distance away, it's not easy for me to get over there. Still, it could be done if that's the best way.

Any advice on how to go about this research would be most helpful!
