Swannanoa - George Wayne Hugg, 52, of Swannanoa, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Mission Hospitals, St. Joseph Campus, following a period of declining health.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, George was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a wonderful father and will be missed by many.

George was the son of George T. Hugg of Asheville and the late Faye Whittaker Hugg, who passed away in 1977.

In addition to his daddy, he is also survived by his other momma, June Hugg of Asheville; his wife, Nancy Crandall Hugg of the home; sons, Dustin Hugg and wife, Trina of Canton, Thomas Hugg and wife, Michelle of Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Anthony Hugg of Asheville; stepchildren, April Lytle and Charles Stevens, both of Asheville; brother, Ray Hugg of Douglas, Wyo.; stepbrother, Eddie Lee and wife, Andrea of Asheville; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Donnie Walker and Pastor Allen Rash officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his daddy, Tom Hugg, 30 Harmony Lane, Asheville.
