Question:

Looking for a web site in Finland or Sweden, to trace Gt grandfather?

his surname is Sjobolad , he changed it to Sealeaf .when he married my Gt grandmother, and stayed in Bootle ,merseyside
her name was Johanna Breen , fro Ireland

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I'm sure that your gt grandfather's name was "Sj㶢lad", not Sjobolad. Sjobolad is not a Swedish name, but Sj㶢lad is, and Sj㶢lad translates literally into sealeaf. It's neither a very common nor a very unusual name. The Swedish telephone directory at eniro.se gives 171 persons/families with that name.

The most wellknown and used genealogical Swedish site is R㶴ter, which has some English pages at http://www.genealogi.se/roots/ . You can post your questions on the forum or search some of the databases.

Finland: try the Genealogical Society of Finland at http://www.genealogia.fi/indexe.htm... .

Good luck!
