Learn all you call of full names, dates and places of births, marriages and deaths. Then you begin paying for copies of the documents, postage, phone calls &c.

You will need access to census images. Taxpayers may have paid for that for you, check with your local librarian and to see what all other resources are available at the library. You can also get some help at your nearest LDS family history center.
