Question:

How to find missing Afro-American ancestors for timeframe of 1890's?

I have found some in 1870,1880 and 1900's,but others seem to just disappeared.I'm looking for a Mary Perryman and her brother Lem found with their mother Sallie Perryman in 1880 Georgia census, but not found elsewhere. Also I'm looking for a William Shade born circa 1856 in North Carolina to an Andy Shade or (Andrew or Randolph).I'm really not certain of the county.I find William on the 1880 census in Marshall county,AL and later in Arkansas and Oklahoma. However no location data is known for him for 1890 census is destroyed.

I have had some minor success with Ancestry.com and Familysearch.org.However,many of these sites still leave me with brick walls.
