Question:

Where does the surname Verediano origate from?

Does anyone know where the last name Verediano came from?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Origins of a name is a tricky topic, since often there is no reliable way of documenting the "original" use. One example is when the current accepted spelling is a variation. Such as family members who believed Fullingim was an Irish name (Irish being a family tradition). In reality, it was a garbled version of Fillingham.. which was/ is a village in Lincolnshire, England.
Some of the usual places I check came up with nothing... however by running it in google, I noticed it being mentioned in Brazilian web sites. Brazil has a heavy Portugese influence. Interesting that google also tried to ask if the right spelling is Veridiano.
I could give a number of guesses.. however, the basic response is that it is always more reliable to do basic research on the person(s) with the name, and confirm where they were born, or lived. It is possible (if you are in the US) that an ancestor of yours came from Brazil to the US, meaning you need to search in those records. If you were to jump to the conclusion that it is a Portugese (or Italian, Spanish or?) name... you could waste lots of energy trying to jump from your ancestor back to a place that they never lived.
