Do you know where the name Sonny comes from?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: My guess is that for most men the name "Sonny" is just a nickname and has nothing to do with the original given name.

For example, Sonny BONO was mentioned in an answer and his real given name is Salvatore Phillip Bono. So, I suppose it could be a nickname for Salvatore, but more likely if that were the case it would be Sal.
