Question:

In 17th century Ireland, how likely was it that a yeoman would be brother to a gentleman and/or a church dean?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If the oldest brother got the estate, and the second went into the church, the rest would have been technically yeomen, i.e. free farmers/crafts/business men; so it's quite likely.
I don't know where people get the idea that anybody not of the nobility necessarily had to be poor.
