Question:

Genealogy Brick wall?

I came to a complete halt on searching my family history. I have used ancestry.com website and have traced all family members back to their countries of origin. The problem i have is that i cannot continue it further. I have the names of the children born here in America through census records, but do not have the names of their parents. Can someone tell me where else i can find out what the parent's names would be?

i received most of the information through census records where it lists the members of the household and was able to calculate their approximate dob by their age at the time the census was taken. Also in the census it lists where the parents were born, and if it was in the US i was able to located them through other census records. but once it listed Ireland/Scotland/Germany I could not find them.
