My search,ACADEMY Baptist Church 1842. Tippah County,MS Cotton Plant. near Blue Mt. College, Rev. M. P. Lowery

My Gr Gr Grandpapa Green Berry Waldrop help organized the Academy Baptist Church with Rev. Dan McKay, 1842 , Rev.Benj. Collins and Rev. Nat Harbin, there were the first officers. Here M. P Lowery was pastor while drafting plans for Blue Mt. College. There is a Bronze Plaque in Cotton Plant, Tippah County, Mississippi. Thank you for any help.

Rev. Green Berry Waldrop lived with his family in Pontotoc and then moved to Elm Grove,later changed to Coldwater, Mississipppi. The County was DeSoto ,later changed, to Tate County.

I'd see what the genweb page for that county (counties) has, in terms of early history. If you use www.usgenweb.com, then drop to state and county, you can use this for other counties as well later on. Also, www.rootsweb.com has email lists for all counties as well. I love the email lists, I sub to any county I am working, and then some. GREAT way to network.
2nd... church archives can be good, if you google Baptist church archives. Those would often be beyond the county.
3rd... Waldrop family section at genforum.com. When using genforum, I often "play" with the search term ie using the county, the spouse surname, etc. You are aware, of course that your Waldrop line is an EARLY Virginia family, and has lots of info out there??
