I would like to know the meaning of the surname "Otych"?

I would like to know the meaning of the surname "Otych"?

I work with a Czech named David Otych, who thinks his name is german which dos'nt ring any bells with me. I was wondering if it meant something as in english names, Smith, Taylor, Piper and so on.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: His name might be Turkish, too. There was a Sabin OTYCH who entered the U.S. in 1915. His last place of residence was the Syrian Arab Republic and his ethnicity is listed as Turkish.

I checked a Turkish, Czech and Germanonline dictionaries w/ no luck. There are Czech words that begin with "Oty", however.

Of course, not all surnames translate into something, although it appears that many people who ask questions here assume this to be the case.
