Question:

Why is there a hole in the middle of a 1903 table located in the law library in the Worcester Courthouse, MA?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It's so they could put reading lamps on the table and have the cords come up through the table instead of trailing across the table. When many large books are being used at once, the table gets cluttered and lamps can go flying when cords get in the way.
