Question:

Signing someones grave?

I'm not sure what category this should go in but my husbands weird sister recently made a trip to her step dads grave to sign it. I didnt ask her any details as that would have been an entire different conversation (shes long winded) and we live 20 states away so I cant see what she meant. Has anyone ever heard of this being done? I mean do you sign it with ink or what and what do you write? Seems really weird to me.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: That certainly is a strange notion, not a cultural custom I'd ever come across. Signing a grave if by that meaning a headstone seems to me to irresponsibly deface it. There may be a chemical interaction with whatever is used.

An old archaeological technique to let future researchers know they should look for reports during that particular year for that site is to tuck in, cover a coin with the current year's mint date.
