Question:

Any info on Irish/Scottish Mohan families?

I would love to share trees with any other Mohans.

But for this question, I am specifically looking for any information on David Mohan, pressumably from Londonderry or thereabouts. He was probably born around the 1880s in Ireland. He lived in Allendale, NJ. He disappeared around 1901, abandoning his son after his wife's death (Emma Van Horn).

Any info would be greatly appreciated, and I'd be happy to share my tree with anyone who's interested.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Is that Monmouth or Passaic County? I see one Trince Mohan born 1874 NJ in Monmouth Co but don't see Mohans at all 1900 Passaic County, but there are Mahans and Mahons from Ireland in both counties. Allendale's just about right near the Rockland Co, NY state line, also close to Orange County NY. Digging into those people & where they are 1910 might give useful information.

Do you have *good* reason for the spelling Mohan? Try all spellings at surname message boards and maybe the place board if you know which county, at ancestry.com, rootsweb.com, maybe genforum.com.
