Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: When you say "Czarney", do you mean the administrative district of Czarny Dunajec in the former Galicia? If so, then your ancestors were from the Austrian partition of Poland and it won't be that hard to find records on them. I would suggest you familiarize yourself with Galician history and administrative practices and contact the Polish Museum and Library in Chicago for a volunteer to pick up the trail with you and help you obtain the records you need. The hurdles you have are:

1. The records aren't on the internet, they're in archives in a country that isn't really wealthy. So you'll need a volunteer from here to translate a request to a volunteer over there to get the information you need. PGSA in Chicago staffs the library of the Polish Museum on Wednesdays to help with genealogy research.

2. Galicia is much different than Prussia (German partition) or East Prussia (Russian partition). You'll need to understand their record keeping methods to understand where to look for the records. Again, PMA can help you there.

3. I don't know what Titus' original name was, but Titus isn't a Polish name. So to track him, you'll need to find his original first name.

4. Most of the records you need will be in Catholic churches. Many will be filmed by the LDS, but you'll need to know which films to pull. The district of Czarny Dunajec isn't tiny. So you'll have to find him in other records in order to narrow your search. Again, I defer to the knowledge of the PMA in helping you locate the town and the records. http://pma.prcua.org/homeen.html...

Really familiarize yourself with the following website. It's full of the best resources you can tap into for Galician and Polish research...bar none. http://www.pgsa.org/index.htm
