Anyone know how to free search for someones relatives?

I bought a house and found 2 suitcases full of pics and memorabilia from past owner. I know that the husband and wife are both deceased but would like to find family to return these things. Anyone know of help or free online sites to search? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
