Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I would think that the yDNA surname research offers the best possibilities - which of course can mean that the surname is only reliable "so far" back but instead will match markers with father's line. familytreedna will have the widest sample. There may be enough mtDNA samples, same place, to have marker matches with females - I don't know. The same company meets the reliability and turnaround criteria. None of it's the $2 variety.
