Question:

Has anybody ever ordered Coat of Arms & History of Family Names from Hall of Names International Inc.??

I am a Genealogist and in January 2007 I had numerous e-mails back and forth with Hall of Names International Inc., 637 Norris Court, Kingston, Ontario Canada K7P 2R4, telephone (613) 634-8692, since they told me that they had those that I wanted to order. But to my disappointment when I ordered one and the minute that they cashed the money, I had no more communication. I sent many e-mails, did many calls, and finally sent a letter which was returned to me. Anybody knows what kind of organization this is. The only thing they have is a beautiful website. Incredible.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: This, sadly, isn't so uncommon. The family coat-of-arms racket is just that. There's very little about it that's legitimate.

For your own situation, contact the RCMP in Kingston and file a complaint of mail fraud. Let them direct you from there...particularly if you mailed the a check or money order. If you gave them a credit card number (God forbid), contact your bank or credit card company and dispute the charge on the grounds of fraud. If you're in the US and experienced this across the international border, then contact your State Attorney General's office or State Police and file a complaint there, in addition to the RCMP.
