Anyone know where I can find naval service records?

I'm trying to find out information about my grand father. He was in the Navy during World War 2. I don't want to pay 40 bucks to one of those bogus websites.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: TC gave you the right answer. You can write to the NARA Military Records unit in St Louis Mo and get the full military service record of anyone who's ever served. The cost is very reasonable for them to pull, copy and mail the whole record to you...and as long as you give them the correct name, place and date of birth, you won't be getting anyone else's records.
