Is genealogy the same here (UK) as it is in USA, if not whats the difference,?

I cant use ancestry.com because I cant find bmd like I can on ancestry.co.uk, so whats the difference and why.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I think that the biggest difference is that we here in the UK have access to National index's of Birth Death's and Marriages, I do not think that happens Evian on a state wide Level, although the is the American Social Security Death index which can be a great help although there were some Rather large exceptions made when it was first introduced, Farmers and Federal Employees were not listed, this I believe does not happen know.
