Question:

Genealogy records?

If I search Ancestry & Genes Reunited for marriage records, exactly what do I get ? I understand I will not see a copy of the marriage certificate. So what will the record show ? Will it show the bride and grooms name and wedding date. Where they were actually married? I would like to know if its just an entry in a file.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If you search the marriage indices you will first of all get the name of the male/female who's surname you've searched for, then you'll get the surname only of the person they are marrying, then the place they married, then the volume number then the page number, the quarter and the year they got married are at the top of the index. This applies to the UK only, the volume and page numbers are needed to order on line, the information can still be found without them but the search is more expensive and takes longer to do. You do not need these numbers for ordering at your local registry office just the rest of the information. Hope this helps you.
