Question:

I live in Lamesa, Texas where would I be able to research my family history for free?

Families that I need to find information on are as follows: Crittenden, Williams, Ingram, Beatty, Feaster, ...

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Dawson County has a taxpayer funded library system with resources. How about an LDS family history center? One should offer access to census at least. Here's how to find your genealogical society & someone to help you out: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txdawson/...

Lamesa ... where I get off 87, head toward Brownfield and 380 toward NM ...

Let me tell you this. You will never do it all for free. Document copies, travel, postage, that will cost you. I don't know why people imagine they'll find all they need for free. I pay an annual subscription about $100/year to access ancestry.com's every-person indexed census images, but some of its resources are free - supported by paid subscriptions.

It'll cost you to order a genealogy copy of Lottie's death certificate unless the family member will allow you to copy the one from the funeral home packet. It will cost you a fee to order the Social Security application from SSDI. From those you will get her parents' names and her place of birth.
