it turns out your hip muscles and therefore will turn out your knees without putting too much pressure on them!.

when you do a demi plie your heels are deffidently not alowed to come off the floor, but in a grand plie then yes they do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

to the turn-out question:
Turn-out should never come from the knees!. If you feel strain on your knees you're probably doing it wrong!.
You have to ease into stretching!. I don't know how old you are, but after the age of 14-15 your hip bones are pretty much the way they are going to be your whole life, you can't change that very much!. Before 14-15, your bones are still growing so you can do exercises to make your turn-out better!. But if you're older than that, you can still work with what you've got! A froggy stretch is a good way to do this!. Lie on your stomach and touch your feet together in the air!. Very carefully,a little at a time lower your feet towards the ground, being careful to keep the hips touching the floor!. You should feel a stretch in the hips!.

to the grand-plié:
It depends on what position you're in!. In first, third, fourth and fifth positions, the heels always come off the floor in a grand-plié, but in second position the entire foot stays in contact with the floor during a grand-plié!.
In this video the dancer does grand-pliés in first, second and fifth positions, but fourth is just the same as fifth in the matter of your heels coming off the floor!.
Hope this helps!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

to improve your turnout in my class we do frogs their when you get on your hands and knees and slowly spread your knees out try to keep your butt down and feet on the floor in the end you look something like a frog
when you do grande plie your heels are allowed to come off the floor except while doing plies in second positionWww@QuestionHome@Com

Sit on the floor with your feet turned out, turn them in, turn them out and repeat

Or, lay on the floor with your legs turned out (from the hips) and slowly lift each leg one at a time!.

No, your heels shouldn't come off the floor during grand-plié
